Introduction

Ruislip High School is a school both in, and for, the community. We believe in the mantra that hard work equals success. This can be seen not only with our alumni, some of whom have attended the most prestigious universities in the country but also in the resilience and character of all our current students who are academically driven and motivated to make a meaningful contribution to our society. We believe passionately that education opens doorways and allows students to fulfil their undoubted potential.

Why choose

Ruislip High School

There are 3 key principles at the core of the sixth form experience at Ruislip High School: academic excellence, individualised pastoral care and significant super curricular and extracurricular activities.

At the centre of the academic experience for students is the excellent teaching that is seen throughout the school. Students are taught by dedicated and inspiring teachers who are all trained to teach the subject they deliver in the sixth form. They are additionally supported by two specialised Leaming Mentors to assist with the demands of sixth form study – an enhanced staffing model that is unique to Ruislip High School Sixth Form to ensure that every student has the one-to-one support they need to fulfil their potential.

The results in summer 2024 saw 47 per cent of all entries graded A*-B and a 99 per cent pass rate. This ensured that every student who made a university application was offered a place. 33 per cent of applicants who applied to Oxford or Cambridge were accepted to these world-class universities. Additionally, our students secured degree-level apprenticeships at global firms, such as KPMG.

Students in the sixth form also receive outstanding pastoral support through a team of specially-trained tutors who support them with their examinations and research skills and prepare them for university and employment. In Year 12, for example, there is an entire week dedicated to supporting students in their university applications and career choices after Ruislip High School. In Year 13, every student receives specialist help in writing and editing their personal statements. As a result, Year 13 students have been consistently successful in a range of university applications to the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge and medicine courses.

Finally, the school recognises that an excellent sixth form education is based on more than grades. Students will have a wide range of extra-curricular activities to choose from, including sport and debating in our enrichment programme.

The sixth form runs a successful guest speaker programme, which has included the former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, UK diplomat to North Korea Sir Richard Hoare, and many more. Students are also invited to work with the lower year groups and our sixth form students provide invaluable support and encouragement to the rest of the school.
