Introduction

New Meaning Training is a post-16 alternative education provider for young people aged 16–25 who want a fresh start. We specialise in vocational learning for those who have found mainstream school difficult — including young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, anxiety, or neurodiversity. Some of our learners have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP); many do not. What they have in common is a need for a more flexible, person-centred learning environment — and that’s exactly what we provide. With centres across Buckinghamshire and a trauma-informed approach to education, we help young people build confidence, gain skills, and move forward at their own pace.

Why choose

New Meaning Training

Why study at New Meaning Training?

If you’ve found school hard — because of anxiety, focus challenges, feeling overwhelmed, or simply not feeling understood — New Meaning Training offers something different.
We’re a post-16 alternative education provider for young people aged 16–25 who want a fresh start. Many of our learners are neurodivergent, have social, emotional or mental health (SEMH) needs, or have faced barriers that made mainstream school feel impossible. Some have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) — many don’t. What they share is a need for a different approach. We understand that, and we shape our learning environment to support you.

At New Meaning Training, you’ll find:

  • We understand you – If you’ve struggled with anxiety, focus, feeling overwhelmed or unsupported, you’ll find a setting where you’re seen, heard and respected
  • Trauma-informed staff – Our team creates calm, caring spaces where learners feel safe to rebuild trust and confidence
  • Practical learning – Courses include Construction, Computing, Creative Art & Design, Boost Workskills and Lifeskills – designed to help you move into work or further training
  • Flexible progress – No pressure. Just structure, encouragement, and support to work toward qualifications in a way that works for you
  • A strong sense of belonging – Many of our team were once learners themselves. We know how it feels to start again, and we’re here to walk alongside you

If you have an EHCP, we’ll work with you, your family and your local authority to build a programme that reflects your goals and the Preparing for Adulthood outcomes. If you don’t, that’s OK too — many learners without EHCPs thrive with us.
